Quick Guide: Download the Patch using Torrents
Final Fantasy Xiv Ps3 Review
Since the Square Enix downloader thingy is a piece of crap, Many people used a Torrent to download these patches.
After installing the client, run FF and let it start updating. Then cancel the update.
Go here: My Documents -> My GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Versiondownloadsffxiv-betad96437e6 (That is the directory for Windows 7. I'm not sure if it's the same on XP. just start a search for the code d96437e6 if you can't find it)
In the 'MetaInfo' folder. You'll find 4 torrents. Download them all using your favorite Torrent downloading software. (Approx. 4.8GB). You should get a more decent speed. (0-5kb/s on the official downloader., 100-400kb/s on uTorrent. )
When done, Copy the 4 .patch files to the Patch folder (Located right next to the Metainfo Folder.) Run the launcher, it will verify the files (checksum and stuff...) and then proceed to install the patch.
