Therefore the Download Station package on your NAS will not be able to fetch the torrent. Every time you send a download to Download Station with this extension, the extension tries to detect if the download URL points to a.torrent or.nzb file.
- Setting the DNS on the LAN 1 configuration was NOT enough and NOT working. I was relying on automatic DHCP setting which I enabled but nope, that did not work. Strange, one would expect DHCP on the Synology to handle these settings correctly.
- Problem of Upload with Download Station (Synology) and forwarding ports - posted in Troubleshooting and Problems: Hello everyone! I have a Synology NAS, a router (Freebox V5), AirVPN and I use Download Station (DS). I can download torrents but not upload. I chose the 50500 TCP port for Bittorent.

Hi, is there any chance you can add the possibility to download torrents with Synology Download Station? The only torrent-options are blackhole (does not work with magnet), Transmission (no seperate package available for DSM 5, Download Station uses the same engine) and uTorrent (have not found a Synology Package)... I've tried the Transmission option because Download Station uses the same engine as Transmission, but i get errors like 'Error getting Session ID from Transmission' and 'Error sending torrent to Transmission. Are you sure it's running?' It would really be a nice added feature because a lot of results are denied because they are magnet-links and i can only use the blackhole-option to download torrents... |

For Syno users I highly recommend nzbget and/or transmission in combination with nzbToMedia over Download Station. |

This would be really great as automated torrent downloads could have specified destination folders. For example, one could set the torrent destination folder to be the same as the post-processing folder and automate music downloads. Right now, the black hole picks up the torrent and sends it the torrent client's default download location. |
commented Dec 28, 2014
At this moment, this will not be implemented. Currently, magnet links are supported when blackhole is enabled, so that should be sufficient for now. |

This would be great to implement, to be able to specify the custom download location for music files. |

Sonarr has this feature, can send torrent to download station (transmission) and also specify the download location. it would be nice to have this so music gets downloaded to a specific directory |

Since we now (almost) have a public synology package, I would like like to suggest the option of supporting DS Download (Download Station), the nzb and torrent downloader built in to every synology NAS. I believe it would be a snap to support for both NZB and with the upcoming torrent features of nzbdrone. The API of DS Download is documented here http://ukdl.synology.com/ftp/other/Synology_Download_Station_Official_API_V3.pdf. |

Comment from anthonylucent on Trello: After further reading, it seems that the synology downloader (download station) is actually based on the nzbget code on the back end. So this might turn out to be easier to support than anyone guessed. |

Synology Download Station Chrome Not Working
Comment from greg948 on Trello: The ability to specify the download directory is the key reason for having support for Download Station over using the blackhole method. For me, it is a deal breaker because I can't sort my downloads properly if I use Sonarr. |

Comment from kkuhle on Trello: Agreed! Download Station does everything I need it to. Having to try to get deluge installed right now because utorrent doesn't support auto-extracting downloads. Would be nice if I could simply have it use the built in one. |

Hi! I'm considering switching from SickRage to Sonarr and currently support for Download Station is my deal breaker (blackhole implies that I have to use/monitor the DS default downloads folder, and that's a recipe for disaster, no?) I know this is marked as low priority, but anyone got any rough ETA? |
commented Sep 3, 2015
@hsousa I can tell you its not something that we're actively working on or something that we've slated to pick up. Watching the default DS folder would be a bit of a mess (even though Sonarr will only process what it can parse), since Blackhole moves files (instead of copying or hardlinking) its use is limited to begin with. If DS supports subfolder watching (which applies a specific label) as well as scripts that can run for a specific label only (or a way for the script to know which label was applied), you could symlink the completed files to a separate folder and have Sonarr watch that folder. |

could do what we did in sb, which was just add it as a 'notifier' so it tells x app when to update. the only issue is then when something gets renamed/removed.. it wont know.. so youd have to fire off updates at that time too... |

In the meantime, what's the best alternative ? Is there a tutorial somewhere ? |

Up ! We clearly need Synology Download Station in available downloaders, it's clearly a dealbreaker instead of Sickbeard. Please take attention of it ! Thanks ! |

Are there Synology disk stations that can run mono/sonarr but can't run
|
commented Jan 30, 2016
That's not the point if Transmission or another downloader is better than DS; DS is built in downloader witrh great phone app for monitoring, user friendly & doesn't need another app for downloading. Sickrage/Sickbeard integrate it very nicelly, don't think it's so hard to include. I'm so impatient for this, clearly Sonarr is much more better than SB but for me, DS is really needed. That's why we use Synology |

No support for Download Station is my deal breaker. I would pay for it. Built-in apps is why we use Synology. |

'Built-in apps'? Like Sonarr... :/ |
commented Feb 24, 2016
No, Download Station as a built-in app :) |
commented Feb 24, 2016
My point was, and remains that you're making a point about using 'built-in apps' while the app you want to work with Download Station is not a 'built-in app'. Logically, if a better, non-built-in solution is available (transmission/nzbget/sabnzbd/deluge/rutorrent), I'm not sure why you're holding out. Especially when markus has said they're not working on it anytime soon. |

Synology Download Station Rss Not Working
commented Jul 6, 2016
I'm using an indexer that supports magnet urls. Download station also supports this. But without the proper connection to downloadstation some torrent downloads will keep getting an error in Sonarr. The connection is possible as seen in Couchpotato. Can you not use some of the code from their project to get this started. I would beta test this for you if necessary, just not the coding type myself. |

@thezoggy perfect that it's supported by Sonarr. But the problem is that my downloader (Download station) doesn't get the magnet properly presented. The main issue here is the implementation of DS support in Sonarr to get this fixed. For now it's only possible to use the black hole. But when an indexer hands back the magnet url I'm basically screwed. Using the out of the box rarbg indexer in Sonarr by the way. |
commented Aug 9, 2016
this would be very helpful as Kat is down and manget link are not working with DS Download, which is what RARBG indexer use |
