| USB ports are not working on my eMachine. The USB ports are not working on my eMachine. I was trying to install a new printer and it is just not seeing it. When your computer suffers serious problems such as multiple virus infections the best option may be to restore the hard drive back to its factory condition. In most instances, you could restore the system simply use the recovery disk that came with your eMachine computer. If you don't have the recovery disk for some reason, you can still run the recovery program by accessing the hidden recovery partition stored on your computer's hard drive.
Step 1
Close down any files that are in use. Restart your eMachine computer.
All Rights Reserved. Emachines systems NEVER come with any Recovery disk(s) - el-cheapo system, el-cheapo support. In some cases there is a program already installed in Windows by emachines listed in All Programs with which you can make your own Recovery disk set while Windows is working properly. I have an emachine EL1358G-51w 1TB hdd with an os of win 7 home premium. Im tring to restore op sys to factory defaults but a notice comes up saying 'hard drive not set to factory default.
Step 2
Press the 'F11' key when the eMachine logo appears on the screen. Select 'Next' and then click the 'Repair Your Computer' option.
Step 3
Click 'Next' and then choose the appropriate operating system from the list of available choices. Click 'Next' and then select 'Load Drivers.'
Step 4
Choose the 'Complete PC Restore' option and then click 'Restore the following backup (recommended).' Choose 'Next.'

Select 'Finish.' Click the check box labeled 'I confirm that I want to erase all existing data and restore the backup.' Choose 'OK' to begin the recovery program.
Follow the operating system prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user profile and set your time zone information.
Tip
- When you begin the recovery process, every single file and program on your eMachine's hard drive will be erased. Before carrying out this procedure on the computer, you should use an external storage device, such as a USB memory stick or rewritable DVD, to save backup copies of any files or folders you need to keep.
